question

Do we need to hold a bake sale or something to buy the City of Durham a paper shredder? Just askin'...

I fail to understand why governments do not rent or lease buildings to businesses or civic groups when they have little to no purpose for them. Here in Atlanta, one of the news crews hosts a bunch of "Shredder Days" here and there with a big ass mobile shredding truck that they typically use for businesses with lots of crap to throw away. If I were an elected official in Durham, I'd make an event out of cleaning the crap up and carrying it to the shredder on one of those days. Then we'd sign a lease with a group that had a good use for the facility.

Well, in Durham, one of the reasons the city owns so many buildings is that there was (at least at one time) no one else to own/occupy them (though I believe this is not the case of the bathhouse in question.)

But I do get your point.

If Marietta doesn't want you, feel free to come here and take a shot. I'll even sell you my house at a reasonable price...

BTW, I gave your committee some money this weekend. But if you do what Ron Paul did and sell my contact info to every wingnut to the right of Karl Marx, I will have to kick your ass. Just sayin'.
