The appointment cycle starts out bad, but gets better over time. You'll have maybe 6 months of 2-3 times a week, then a while of maybe once a week. The last year or two I did it, I'd gotten down to once every other week.
It helped that I worked about 5 minutes by foot from where I got the shots. :) It also helped that my doctor was really flexible about it, and let me get my shots at the Duke allergy clinic instead of his office. I guess Duke has now moved their allergy clinic elsewhere though.
My anticipated regimen is 2/week for six months, then just once/month.
I'm going to Duke allergy, at least for now...it's relatively close to my house (5-6 min drive up Roxboro) and will get me in early enough to get to work "on time". There's actually a serviceable clinic where I work and I may switch over to having them do it after a couple of months for convenience sake, but I think I'd rather get those first few under the watchful eyes of the specialists...the clinic at work once took about 15 pokes to draw blood from me...

Don't know how bad your symptoms are, but I went through shots for maybe three years, and it was really worth it.
I'm glad to hear that. Thanks.
Honestly, the needles don't bother me...it's the frequency of appointments...
i did thirty yrs ago. (do the math, i was a teen,ok?)
the twice weekly appts got to be a pain in the ass.
go in.
get shot.
sit and read a dumass magazine for 15-20 minutes while awaiting a reaction that will never come.
do it for three yrs.
dont know if it cured anything other than my deadly fear of needles (I said i was a kid, right?)
within six months, i was laughing at that damned needle and daring him to find a bigger one.
I don't like to hear the "uh oh" one.
